Price Alerts

Get notified when prices cross your thresholds.

How Alerts Work

  1. 1
    You create an alert

    Using /alert AAPL below 220

  2. 2
MarketClaw polls prices every 5 minutes

Checks all active alerts against current prices

  3. 3
When triggered, you get a notification

    Telegram message with price details

  4. 4
    Alert is automatically removed

    One-time alerts, not recurring

Creating Alerts

Use the /alert command with the following syntax:

/alert <ticker> above|below <price>

Examples

/alert AAPL below 220 Alert when Apple drops below $220
/alert BTC-USD above 100000 Alert when Bitcoin exceeds $100,000
/alert NVDA below 800 Alert when NVIDIA drops below $800
/alert EURUSD=X above 1.10 Alert when EUR/USD exceeds 1.10

Managing Alerts

View All Alerts

/alerts

Lists all your active alerts with their IDs, tickers, conditions, and target prices.

Delete an Alert

/delalert 1738412345678

Deletes the alert with the specified ID. Find alert IDs using /alerts.

Alert ID System

Each alert has a unique timestamp-based ID (e.g., 1738412345678). This ID is generated when you create the alert and is displayed in the confirmation message.

Finding Your Alert IDs

  1. Send /alerts in your chat
  2. Each alert is listed with its ID
  3. Copy the ID to use with /delalert

Limitations

5-Minute Polling Interval

Alerts are checked every 5 minutes. This means alerts are not instant — there can be up to a 5-minute delay between the price crossing your threshold and receiving the notification.

Not for High-Frequency Trading

Due to the polling interval and reliance on Yahoo Finance data, MarketClaw alerts are not suitable for time-sensitive trading strategies. Use professional trading platforms for critical alerts.

One-Time Alerts

Alerts fire once and are automatically deleted. If you need ongoing monitoring, create a new alert after the first one triggers.

Best Practices

Set buffer zones

Set alerts slightly away from current price to avoid immediate triggers. If a stock is at $225, set your alert at $220 instead of $224.

Use /analyze first

Check support/resistance levels before setting alerts. Technical levels often provide better alert targets.

Check your alerts

Use /alerts regularly to review active alerts. Remove outdated ones with /delalert.

Consider market hours

Stock prices only update during market hours. Crypto and forex trade 24/7.

Example Workflow

You: /analyze AAPL
Bot: AAPL at $227.50... Support at $220...
You: /alert AAPL below 221
Bot: Alert created for AAPL below $221 (ID: 1738412345678)
...time passes...
Bot: Alert triggered! AAPL is now at $220.85 (below $221)
